Obviously this whole developing the aerobic system approach is working. I'd love to see Jenny's training all laid out. This whole race was pretty impressive by the American women, this was a pretty weak event a few years ago….now they're looking real real tough. Jenny, she is just good…..I mean when I watched her run that ridiculous 5000 indoors I was blown away….and now 3-4 months later she does this and I'm blown away again. They're obviously doing some things right. It's exciting.

I'm sure Mark has been scratching his head furiously since Sunday afternoon. With all the Russians getting busted, the 1500 has really opened up. If Barringer can close well off a slow pace she could do some damage. I think she's clearly ready to run under 9:10 in the steeple and will be in the mix for a silver or bronze, but is not in the same league as Galkina. Kind of a dilemma. This is why they pay (a few) coaches the big bucks.
On a related note, there should be no dilemma for Mahon – Willard is clearly a 1500 runner now. 1:59 and 4:01 will get it done, but unless she runs about a :50 PB in the 5000 her lack of strength will be a limiting factor in the steeple.
