The Shootout was indeed quite fast this year. Perhaps an even more promising (though slightly counterintuitive) sign would be a disastrous Big 12 meet. The last two times the men have won, it's come after a getting beat by a bunch of (with all due respect) nerds at conference.
Of course, they murdered people in 2001, but the depth of the Big 12 has improved a bit since those days.
Sure would be nice to have a low stick though ...

Jay, why are pre-season or even mid-season rankings such a big deal? Surely it's all just a 2 bit sideshow that heaps extra pressure on the athletes and coaches for no reason? I'd hate to be in a position where my athletes started to care about the results of some coaches poll, when they should really be worried only about their grades, training and racing.

Do you feel that these polls are a positive or negative element of your system over there?

Jay, I think both teams' performances, especially the ladies, validated your assumption here.

Pretty proud of Ms. Tremblay right now!

Here's hoping they stay on track and improve over the course of the season in typical CU fashion. If so, wow.
