Do you have an hour right now?

The reason I’m asking is that it’s just after 8:00 pm MST and James Hatch is lifting now and in this day and age we could all be watching him live. Obviously it’s not ideal that I’m not there in person, yet I’m confident that we’ve done enough work together in a weight room the he can handle tonight’s lift. Last week I watched the squat progression live via Google Chat and it was awesome. If you think this is something we should do then just comment below or send me an email (coachjayjohnson@gmail.com)or a direct message via twitter and if the response is good we’ll do it.

Here is the lift.

10 min jump rope, ending with 5 “doubles”; 2x5xRocket Jumps with 30 sec between sets. Squats at 8×220, 6×240, 4×265 with 3 min between sets. Do 2/1 and make sure you challenge the depth on these – if you can go low and still do the 2/1 then that is ideal. 2×2 min of leg discomfort: 20xWide Outs with 25 lb. plate; 45º run (thigh to parallel) for 20 seconds (go hard); 60 box slalom, 5 rocket jumps, repeat circuit; take 4 min between circuits. Richey Upper body 15 min routine. Jump rope 5 min, then Athena and Sleepytime.

What is Athena? See this video.

What is Sleepytime?

It’s a tea, made in Boulder, that you drink before you go to bed.

…and it’s a routine I often assign an hour before bedtime.

Sleepy Time
1 Superman x 10
2 Scorpions x 20
3 Iron Cross x 20
4 Donkey Whips x 5
5 Lower Body Crawl (Prone) x 10
6 Side Leg Lift x 24 (toe inx8, neutralx8, toe outx8)
7 Groiners x 20
8 Donkey Whips x 5
9 Groiners x 20
10 Gentle…Cat-back, sway-back x 10 (5 of each)
11 4 min of Foam roller

  • Great - we'll do it sometime soon. Maybe as early as next week. Thanks for the interest.

My thought was to do it via USTREAM - any other platforms that you think I should use? YouTube won't do it live, right?

I thoroughly enjoy video representation of specific exercises, and would watch it from start to finish (as i have your other videos). Great idea!
  • Definately. Great idea!

Jay, you know I am in for this--too cool.

I think that would be great, it's always good to see stuff in the weight room for distance runners.

I think that would be awesome. For someone to learn, seeing it done in person is best, but live over the web is the next best thing.
