Practice Video

Not much of a story, just some video from practice today. I look forward to posting regularly in the coming weeks. Thanks for your patience.

Music is Rodrigo y Gabriela covering Led Zeppelin.

Do I like the mechanics in this video? Some decent, some not so good, some barley tolerable. That said, 210 frames per second exposes the flaws in what would look like good mechanics at full speed. Most of the runners are running 64-65 rhythm.

Also, I do like how much better Brent looks than in July/August and that's really what coaching is about. Evolution. The process. The journey.

Uh oh, now I'm nervous about running with or anywhere near you in a few weeks. If you think those guys' mechanics are “barely tolerable”….

Well, one guy's run 1:46.2 and the other guy's run under 13:20, so I'm looking much more critically at them than I would other runners.

Also, check out how splayed out the feet of this runner are as he negotiates a turn…not great, but oh well.

    Thanks for your comment Scott.

I want to know what you were using to shoot at 210fps. Also it's good to have you back.

Casio Exilim. I found a cheaper camera in this series for Casio for $135 on Amazon but can't find the link. Fun toy, now I need to make use of it as a coaching tool.

I've used the Casio Exilim (EX-F1 and EX-FC100) for high-speed filming as well – they do a nice job for a relatively low price.
