XC Training System

People always ask me this…

December 10, 2025

Today, I'd like to discuss the most common questions people have about the Track Training System (TTS).

Quick reminder...

The first class in the course is Tomorrow at 8:30 PM EST/5:30 PM PST.

At that time the bonuses - 8 copies of the new edition Consistency Is Key shipped to you for free, plus the Complete High School Runner course, plus the Craft of Coaching course - go away. Learn more about the TTS here.

Okay, let's start with the two most common questions and then we'll get to some other questions I often get about the TTS program.

Will the TTS keep my kids injury-free?

And…

Will it help my kids run PRs?

I'll let Coach Allen answer these questions for you…

"The Track Training System is 100% as advertised. Everyone PR'd in at least 1 event, we stayed healthy, and my athletes enjoyed the structure of the weekly workouts.

Our biggest accomplishments were breaking the school record in the 1600 and 800, and we had a freshman run a 4:26 mile!

While all of those things are awesome, to me, the best thing was that they were excited for practice just about every single day. They arrived in the morning with more energy than in years past, and more of them were on time and attended practices more consistently under the new program (TTS). That was something that never crossed my mind and was so encouraging to witness!!

If you're looking for something new or different to help your team, search no more. The Track Training System is the answer!" - Mabry Allen, Texas

Will the TTS transform my program?

Let's hear from Coach Clark on this one…

"Throughout my 34 years of coaching girls middle distance runners at Kearney High I've tried a lot of different training methods. We've had a very successful program year in and year out as I've incorporated all those lessons learned.

Yet I was always searching for an answer to how to keep my runners healthier throughout the year and being fresh and performing their best at the end of the year. When I read about Jay's Track Training System last year, it sounded like what I'd been looking for.

I jumped in and it was the best decision I've made in my career regarding training.

His pre and post run activities were a game changer for us, and this season we were as injury-free as any year I've had, and we achieved multiple PRs, a school record, and most importantly, we raced our very best when it mattered the most!

I appreciated that Jay was very responsive to questions during the season, and his system was easy to incorporate into things we were already doing. He continues to update the system, and I look forward to my 2nd year in the system in 2025!!" - Don Clark, Nebraska

Is the TTS just for new coaches? We already have kids running fast and I don't know if it will make an impact on our program.

"Got back from New Balance Outdoor Nationals late on Sunday and couldn't be happier with our results.

Our DMR shattered the school record by 19 seconds (a record they had set just 6 weeks ago), finished 7th in the Rising Stars division and ran the 29th fastest time of any DMR at the NBNO, Nike or Adidas meets this past weekend.

We worked with the TTS workouts throughout outdoor training and during the two-week lead up, we did a couple of the TTS workouts they felt had been the most beneficial to them during the season. As you said in a webinar or email, "give them what they want".

Our highlight was our steeplechaser who ran an 11 second PR to finish 4th overall and earn All-American honors. He is one of only 7 boys this spring to break 6:00 in the 2k steeple. He was primarily a 2-miler during the season and we did a lot of the 2-mile TTS workouts with 5 hurdles around the track out in lane 3.

He was in 7th place with 300 to go and he executed fast/faster/fastest perfectly to move into that 4th place spot.

Thank you for all your help this spring. I'm looking forward to using the XCTS this summer and fall as we continue to improve our program." - Coley Carden, Massachusetts

Is the system easy to learn? And will it be worth my time (and money)?

"I'm certain the Track Training System is absolutely worth the investment of both time and money.

The course is well-structured, providing comprehensive and practical insights that significantly enhance track performance.

For anyone considering purchasing, I would say go for it; the value you receive far outweighs the cost.

Given the quality and effectiveness of the content, I would confidently rate it 5 stars. I'm glad I took this leap of faith in my efforts to help my team!" - Wes McDonald, Kentucky

Will the TTS save me time?

Absolutely. You'll have progressions for 800m, 1600m, and 3200m workouts, plus all the post-run strength that you can assign kids the first week of practice.

Teams with 20 kids and 80+ kids have thrived with the TTS because it has allowed the coach to focus on talking to athletes and building a winning team culture.

Especially powerful are the plans for the kids who come out for the team with "no prior training." The plan for them will keep them healthy and keep you from tackling injuries all season.

Will you answer my emails?

Yep.

All season long, I'll be with you, helping you make the adjustments needed to ensure your kids race fast, especially in the championship season. The TTS experience is very much a "done with you" kind of experience.

What do you mean by "lifetime updates?"

You have access to this information in the coming years and do not need to purchase it again when I add training to the TTS. This is a tremendous value and unparalleled in coaching education compared to programs that charge a monthly or yearly fee.

How long will it take to learn all the information?

Relative to the hundreds of hours you'll spend at practice this year, very little.

The TTS is broken into bite-size pieces, so you can watch the videos as time allows. Plan on 2-3 hours initially (over 2-3 days) and then plan on 6-8 hours over 2-3 weeks.

…but on this point I do need to be honest that the TTS isn't for everyone.

If you expect to spend 60 minutes looking at training documents and have a comprehensive plan for all your athletes (running multiple events) that simply won't happen with this program (or any program).

If you want to transform your program, you've got to invest some time in learning the system. The good news is that all the videos are concise…and you can even watch the videos on 1.25x speed to learn the system a bit faster.

Will you write me a custom training plan for my team's schedule?

No, I don't write custom schedules but if you follow what's in the TTS you'll be able to write one that's either 100 percent correct or close to it. From there you can ask questions during the live classes, or email me.

I'd like to get my administration to pay for this. Can you process a PO (or take a check)?

Absolutely - we do this every week!

Every school district seems to work a bit differently, but we'll get you any invoices, W-9s, etc. that you need to get this paid for.

I even have a letter template for you to copy that you can use to send to your AD to show them the value of the TTS. Click here, scroll to the bottom of the page, and simply copy that letter.

If you contact us today and start the process of getting the PO you'll get the bonuses. Just reply to this email and my assistant Tara and I will help you.

Now let me ask you a question...

How much time would it take for you to create multiple 24-week training plans, with multiple post-run strength progressions?

And how would you know it's optimal and not just a hodge-podge of workouts you've picked up at clinics that may or may not work?

It would take you a ton of time to put together all of that training…and you'd no doubt question how far away from optimal it would be.

The good news is you don't have to waste your time putting together a second-rate training plan.

Here's The Deal...

Each day you hold off on investing in your team's future, the lower the chance that 2025 will be a transformative year for your team.

You invest once to get the TTS. You own it forever. You get lifetime updates.

The first live class is Tomorrow, December 11th, at 8:30 PM EST/5:30 PM PST.

Three bonuses are available today when you enroll in the TTS:

  • 8 copies of the new edition of Consistency Is Key ($90 value)
  • The Complete High School Runner course ($85 value)
  • The Craft of Coaching course ($95 value)

That's $270 of free resources that go away tomorrow night.

Together, let's make 2026 a special year for your athletes.

Let's go!

Jay

PS - If you've read this far you're likely confident the TTS can help you and your program. But you probably want to see what you'll get when you enroll.

Take a bit of time to watch the video where I walk you through what's inside the TTS. Just click here and scroll down the page and you'll see the video.

The TTS truly is a game changer - just read what the coaches who have the TTS have experienced this past year.

PPS - Over the past 25 years I've learned a lot at coaching clinics. They're a great resource.

Yet if you could only do one thing this winter - travel to a clinic or invest in the TTS - consider what coach Zelwak has to say about how the TTS compares to going to clinics...

"This may be a little long- but my experience with Jay and his program has been ongoing and I believe in this very strongly.

Years ago, I was skeptical of any program offering ways to enhance or help train athletes.

I have been coaching for 22 years. Over the course of my career, I have met several "personal coaches" who "promise results" for athletes. I have seen a lot of "programs" and attended a lot of "certification courses." I have also purchased "supplemental training programs" to help in areas where I felt I was lacking.

I watched Jay's program grow over the years because it seemed to put all of the things I was looking for in one place. I attended his clinic in 2018 and was blown away. I attended another one in 2023.

The speakers for both of those were incredible. Look at the speakers and tell me you couldn't learn from them. They were all so gracious and their passion for the sport and athletes is obvious.

I have been in touch with quite a few of them whenever I have questions or issues and I'd like some feedback. When someone like Shannon Thompson takes time to respond to a high school coach and is willing to make time for my athlete it is amazing. When Doug Soles or Kelly Christensen are willing to share their insight on building a winning culture.

Now, always having Jay's emails, his training videos, his nuggets of info, his quick and insightful tips for training, him being available to help however he can has been an invaluable asset to our program.

I recommend purchasing his program for any coach because it offers so much - I learn how to implement something new as it applies to each team I have. I HIGHLY recommend it to new coach because he lays out EVERYTHING a coach needs to do.

There are so many things I learned to add to our training over the years that has led to some success - but Jay has done a remarkable job putting it all together in a way that is easy to follow and follows sound training principles and methods.

I wish I had this resource when I started 22 years ago - my athletes would have been so much better. I spoke to one I coached in 2004 just yesterday about that very thing.

If you are on the fence - get off and join this wonderful community of coaches who are here to help athletes improve and coaches develop. There is nothing out there quite like it- believe me- I have looked for over 20 years and Jay has it all." - Michael Zelwak
